At the end of last week the Northside Collaboratory announced that it was movin' on up, Northside UP that is. Dominic Robinson director of the Collaboratory gathered together partner organizations, supporters, friends and the curious to announce the newest iteration of the organization following recent changes within the structure of the partnering supportive organizations, which include: St. Joseph's Hospital, Catholic Charities, Centerstate CEO, and Franciscan Collaborative Ministries. The organization's new identity, Northside Urban Partnership (or Northside UP), better reflects the crux of what the organization is about, and that is partnering with other organizations to develop and implement programs that allow Northside UP to improve the quality of life on the Northside.

Following the unveiling of the new identity, those attending were invited to tour the new offices of the newly christened Northside UP, as well as convene across the street on North Salina at Craft Chemistry(C2), where tastes of the Northside could be found, art of the business inhabitants of C2 could be viewed, and sounds of the Boston band The David Wax Museum could be enjoyed.

To view photos of the event please follow this link to the Northside UP facebook page, and while you're there don't forget to "like" us because we certainly like YOU!

TNT-7 (aka the Northside) Parks subcommittee is looking for a few good volunteers to help clean and mulch the garden at Butternut Circle on Saturday morning, October 23rd at 10am. The City Parks Departments will provide the tools and the mulch. All the committee needs is you and some of your closest friends to assist with this effort.

It shouldn't take too long provided there are enough volunteers to help rake, weed and mulch!

On October 5, the sixth graders from Cathedral Academy at Pompei attended the 2010 Environmental Field Day presented by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historical Presentation.  It was held at Green Lakes State Park.  The Environmental Field Day program has been ongoing at Green Lakes State Park for a number of years now and has been incredibly important in the lives of the children of Onondaga County, as well as to the health of the planet.  The presenters and volunteers are experts and enthusiasts in various fields from many different environmental and conservation agencies, organizations and academia.  There were 14 different schools participating with approximately 850 sixth graders attending over two days.  The CAP sixth graders attended presentations in Tree ID / Habitat, Wildlife Rehabilitation, Forest Recycling, Zoo to You, Astronomy, Environmental Games, Aquatic Inverts and Fish ID/Ecology.  Mrs. Kuno and Brother Jonathan Beech chaperoned the event.  Mrs. Kuno made everyone tasty lunches and drove the Brady Faith Center van to the event.  A fine day was had by all.
